General Update

As I am rather lame at telling people news, and updating this journal, I thought I better list a few bits of major news ..

1 - I have moved to Kentish Town – have been there since beginning of August. It's a very nice house that I share with Murphy and a few of his friends, we have a massive bedroom and a nice little garden. Weird living with so many people again, especially as I’m not totally at ease with all of them, but that will come. Can’t believe I still haven’t made it to Camden shopping yet (due to guilt over uni work and lack of money) although we have been making the most of the vast number of pubs and off licenses within minutes of the house ;-) have been suffering many debilitating hangovers ..

2 – My masters in Library & Information studies is almost over. I have been working on my dissertation which is due in a couple of weeks time. Bit disappointed that it wont be a master piece but I’m getting to the stage that I just want to done! If anyone cares it’s a critical analysis of the Subject Classification of James Duff Brown. (go google that if you’re bored)

3 – I have a new job! I start on 26th September in the library of a law firm. Should be exciting to work in a busy environment but I’m having some doubts about working with so many lawyers, and wondering if it would be more rewarding to work in public sector. Either way, it’ll be good experience and it’s a good excuse for clothes shopping ;-) This also means I can stop working weekends and spend them with my friends having adventures ;-)

Well that was rather boring .. will try harder in future ;-)

I AM hardcore

I did manage to work all day saturday, watch movies all night and work a full day on sunday! I should thank caffeine tho, only missed 5 minutes of the second two episodes (was woken by laughter) and almost fell asleep into my sudoku after lunch today but revived after more coffee :-)

Mystery Science Theatre 3000 IS as funny as I remember and I'm wondering how many episodes I actually saw (they did almost 200) seeing as I had seen parts of at least 3 out of the 4 they showed, but then maybe the good ones are the ones that get re-run the most. There were these two guys (a little too geek) who actually built the two main robots from the series and the robots spent the night sitting in the front row, they got lots of free cool stuff for putting in the effort, and it was well deserved they were *perfect*.

Anyway, must remember around this time next year as they're planning to do it again, and with enough planning may be able to drag more people along :-)

5 Habits

Ground rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "Five Weird Habits of Yourself" and the people who get tagged need to then write a LJ entry about their five quirky little habits as well as state the rules of this game clearly. In the end, you need to list the next five people who you want to tag.

1. I meow. A lot. Especially when drunk and walking home on my own I can be heard to softly 'mew mew' to myself.
2. When sharing a bed I need to sleep on the side closest to the door, or at least not next to the wall.
3. I need to tell my boyfriend I love him everyday or he might forget.
4. I always projectile vomit to save my clothes & shoes (this can be at someone else’s expense)
5. I fall asleep on any train/bus/car ride

I tag:

fraggleshock, fish_liberator, i_am_hardcore, muppetspanker, sirjustice

I have a new job!

This weekend was the last I shall be free for a while, and I spent most of it feeling rubbish or sleeping after catching some nasty bug from my mum :-( Also a shame I was so ill as Al was staying and I don't think I made a very good host ..

Start my new job on Sunday at BBP (in Holborn) it's where they train future lawyers so I get to stay in the area of law while getting some experience in academia, which is useful as that's where I'm thinking of heading .. I'll be a 'weekend information assistant' which means working 10.30-8pm Saturdays & Sundays, which does kinda suck but I need the money and the experience will be good, although I get the feeling the job wont be all that challenging ..

The Masters however, is rather more 'challenging' - Harder than I thought it would be, but then I don't think I spent much time thinking about it before I started .. It feels a lot less practical and more philosophical than I expected, lots of nice vague questions about 'what is information?' and 'will libraries have any physical presents in the future?' .. rather scared that most of the assessment is going to be by essays as I don't think I've written one since GCSE ..

Was feeling like I was going a bit crazy with nothing to do with my days and no money to do anything with but now the studying is in full swing and I have a job again I'm feeling much happier :-)
